Wirless Notebook cant connect to internet?
I have a special Edition HP that has a built in wirless signal.. i found my desktops wireless signal (Linksys) and made that my main wireless provider. For some odd reason its not letting me get to the internet. When i got into Network and Sharing Center it has my computer and a line in green to my Desktop and then another line to the globe that says internet. The line to the internet has a big red X in the middle.. My singal strength is excellent, but i still cant get to the internet.. anyone have any ideas?
so should i just go get a new router? mine is kinda older, and i have no idea where any paperwork is
The signal strength you see only says that your laptop can see your wireless router without any problems. The big red X over the line between your router and the globe is why you can’t connect to the internet. Your router is unable to communicate with your internet service provider.
If your desktop can go on the internet, assuming it is connected via a ethernet cable, then it is most likely your router’s wireless signal, either is hasn’t been set up properly (refer to your router’s user manual or quick start guide) or it needs a reboot. If your desktop is unable to connect to the net either then it would probably be your ISP. Give your provider a call.
